In Memory

Ann DeBoer (Schimke)

Ann DeBoer (Schimke)

Ann (DeBoer) Schimke died on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2015.  Many of us remember her hard work on many Committees for past Class Reunions.  She will be sorely missed by all!

I last saw Ann when she was admitted to my mother's nursing home quite a while ago and she told me she was fighting cancer.  A friend of hers later told my wife her kids had moved her to another nursing home in Southern Michigan.  Her long fight has come to an end and she is now in peace!

Ann's husband, David DeBoer, preceded her in death in 2000.  She is survived by son, Joshua, daughters, Jennifer and Sarah (Kenneth) Shank - both of Muskegon, and 5 grandchildren.    Visit www.clockfuneral-home.com to leave a memory or sign the Guest Book.

I hadn't seen Ann since high school but always was drawn to her easy smile and cheerful attitude in classes and in the halls. I'm sorry to hear of her suffering and passing.

Ann was quite a lady. We had lots of fun at her slumber parties in junior high.   We were roommates at WMU during our senior year, along with Pam Hurst.  It was quite an accomplishment for her to become principal of McLaughlin School as part of her career.  Miss her.

I also remember those slumber parties!  Ann was also very active in our church.  She was devastated by the unexpected death of her husband who was a wonderful man and father to their children.  She was much loved by the students and staff at McLaughlin elementary.  I think about her often and know she and her husband are reunited.

Ann was a fighter.  Ann never had cancer, but had many complications from her Diabetes, including vision and liver damage that led to dialysis and kidney transplant.  Her sister Susie moved her to a nursing home near her in Perrysburg,Ohio. She had much better care and Sue could carefully watch her diet--no more carmel lattes!.
