Our 55th reunion is coming up this year - seems unbelievable!

I continue to teach metal smithing and glass art at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. I also volunteer as the Business Manager at Kazoo School, a private school in Kalamazoo. I manage their finances and write grants. I continue to have my “House Jewelry & Glass” small business, and enjoy creating art. Nick & I enjoy traveling, hiking and maintaining our home.
I’m grateful for good health and energy - exercising every day keeps me going.
The pandemic has given me time to explore family genealogy, including preserving family stories and creating photo books and slide shows to share with my relatives.
My children & grandchildren are so grown up and I feel fortunate to have close and loving relationships with each of them & of course, my amazing husband Nick.

What I've been up to for the since I graduated? What a question! I moved to Kalamazoo in 1969 and have lived here since. I graduated from WMU with a degree in sociology and Masters in Public Administration. I worked for the VanBuren and Kalamazoo Co. Department of Human Services for 25 years as a social worker and administrator. I took an early out 14 years ago and have been semi-retired since.
I then switched from social work to the arts. I worked as the Executive Director of the West Michigan Glass Art Center for 5 years and the Director of Buy Local Greater Kalamazoo for two years. I teach metal working/jewelry & glass art at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. I have my own business 'House Jewelry' and create multi-media jewelry and glass art.
I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis 20 years ago and have turned into an exercise nut! I earned my first degree Black Belt decided in TaeKwonDo a couple of years ago.
I married my husband, Nick, in 1984, and we are grateful for this wonderful life we have together. Together, we have three children and 5 grandchildren.
I travel a lot - primarily with my sister - which is a lot of fun! Sometimes Nick comes along too! My most recent trip was to Japan with my son, daughter and two of my grandchildren.
I enjoy going back to Muskegon and love being on the reunion committee. It is a great gift to reconnect with friends I've known since grade school.

I believe that every student needs 'one thing' to make it in high school - one of the most complex social settings you can find yourself in. My 'one thing' was cheerleading - which I loved! I loved being in the band - it was a lot of fun being the only girl coronet player (not that I noticed the cute guys)!!!
